- This above statement is completely false and is an example of the
- rascist stereotypes that are often used, falsely, to explain Japanese
- development and marketing. If you read some of the articles about DVD,
- you would not be presenting this as a reason for the introduction of DVD.
- DVD is being introduced the way it is specifically because of what a
- previous message sender was saying, "Why not just use the DVD for digital
- recording?". The Japanese corporations are bowing to pressure from the
- United States entertainment companies to inhibit direct digital transfer
- until some mechanism can be developed to prevent loss-less copy of video.
- Think about it: current video recording is analog therefore there is
- generational degradation from copy to copy. Think about the impacts of
- that when the Polish market is flooded with black market videotapes of
- first run movies, made by somebody with a camcorder in the theater.
- In case you didn't know, that is the same reason the dual-tape VCR was
- never introduced by a Japanese company in the US, due to pressure from
- entertainment companies and the US Government not to do so. You should
- read about the guy that finally got the GO dual tape VCR into the
- marketplace. BTW, Sanyo was selling a dual-tape VCR in the European
- market over 5 years ago and still does not sell it in the US.
